Since the lightbulb’s invention, light fittings have been little more than bulb-holders, designed for decorative qualities by myself. Traditional lightshades merely offer protection to our eyes from the glare of the bulb, wasting light where it is not needed. Studio lighting is designed to produce the most productive quality light with the greatest efficiency but is overpowered for domestic use.

The Vera System brings studio-quality light to a domestic environment.

Nothing matches the dynamic quality of sunlight, but the Vera System is the next best thing when it is not to be had, providing a more soothing artificial light, with higher clarity at any power setting. Restricted sunlight can cause seasonal affective disorder; early adopters of the Vera System report improved mood with even short term use. The diffuser-lamps in particular function as as ‘personal relaxation lights’ and the reflector-lamps provide dramatic low-key lighting.

The stand is self-correcting and more stable than a traditional light stand. If struck, the lamp absorbs and returns the energy – it dances and wiggles as an alternative of falling over.

Vera lamps use industry-standard lamp heads designed for video lighting – in truth, with the addition of strobes, we used the Vera lamps as lighting for the product photographs. The Vera System also adds a flattering, professional look to video conferencing.

The Vera System used to be designed to be used with the Philips Hue® LED bulb but works with any A19 LED bulb. The boom and legs are elastic-painted fiberglass resin composite and the counterweight is powder coated steel. It is held along side ultra-long-life polymer elastic o-rings and 3D printed connectors. The Vera System utilizes aerospace-grade, long-life materials, all of which are upgradeable, replaceable, and interchangeable.
